I have been on the hunt for soap. Safegard. It’s the only soap my husband likes to use and so we have been buying and using Safegard soap since the day we were married. And now after all these years, for some unknown reason, it’s getting hard to find. Costco no longer carries it. I can’t find it in my regular grocery store and and it vanished from the local Target. Today I stopped on the way home from work and found an 8 pack of Safegard at the Food Lion. I bought three of them for a total of 24 bars of soap. I have to resort to hoarding I guess.
I also stopped at TJ Maxx and found this great oversized Apothecary Jar for $9.99. I brought it home and unwrapped each bar of soap and placed them in the jar. Smells fresh and clean. I saw someone else do this somewhere once upon a time either in a catalog or on a blog. So thank you to whomever for the idea. It suits the bathroom just fine.

That looks great and I'm sure it makes the bathroom smell fresh. I like that jar.....I need to stop at TJ Maxx more!

That's funny about not being able to find Safeguard. That stuff has been around forever.
I have a jar on my tub full of our favorite soap, Oil of Olay.
R U getting snow? We are getting 6 more inches:(
Well, I can appreciate this because my husband only uses Dove Green Tea Moisture and it has completely disappeared from Sam's. Yes, I could probably find it at Walmart, but not 12 bars for $4.00.
And I LOVE that jar!! I wish we had more bathroom counter space. Totally going on the wish list for the next house.
Also? You have a little something on my blog for all of your awesomeness! ;D
WOW!!! Safeguard never looked so good! Looks like a trip to TJ Maxx is in order.
I have been using Safeguard since it's inception in the 60's. My mom and dad used it and now my whole family uses it. I have also found it difficult to find so when I do I buy LOTS. The smartest thing you did was unwrap it because it will last much longer now. Ever wonder why they put soap in plastic wrap and in boxes? It's cuz soap used to "cure" for a long time before it was sold by being out in the open air. Then they figured out that if it was wrapped in something it stayed softer and didn't last near as long and you'd have to buy more. So by airing out your soap you are hardening it and making it last longer. Cute jar.
I love this look and it allows you to use drug store soap (with not so pretty packaging) and display them in a beautiful way...
What a terrific idea with the soap!
Another great blogger that's been brought to my attention via Allyson. I can't wait to look through your post history/old projects and check everything out.
I hate when stuff I love starts to vanish but this looks so cute I encourage you to keep hoarding!
That seashell is the perfect complement :)
Love the jar and btw, I featured two of your number projects today on my blog! hope thats okay.. they are kind of amazingly awesome.
I thought the Safeguard disappearing act was just in my part of the country. Great find--the soap and the jar, beautiful presentation!
That is a cute idea! I sure hope your hubby's beloved safeguard isn't being discontinued. I hate when that happens! Have you called the company to find out what's up:?
:)

Isn't it amazing how something as simple as soap can look so lovely in a clear jar? Because yours does look really nice!

Wow! That looks awesome.
Had no idea this soap was so hard to find.
Apothecary jars and soap.... two things that I love dearly and they are even better together :)
Looks great..I have done the same thing in my master bath...but it wasn't me...I have not posted a pic of it. If I see some safeguard...I will tell you where to go:)
Blessings,
Linda
I always get it at Walmart. It's the only soap that I have ever used that doesn't bother my sensitive skin. They have both white & almond. Hopefully it won't disappear from there!
Next time you might want to try the Dollar Tree....they seem to carry soaps that are no longer carried in regular stores...I get Pears soap there....
Hey thanks for all the tips everyone. I'll try Walmart and the Dollar Store. And if I see it...I'll buy 3 more 8-packs!
And to Nank, thanks for the info on how drying soap cures it and it lasts longer. Who knew!
I wonder if it has to do that the public is now using liquid soap and sales are down. I go bonkers when they take my favorite products off the market. Jello had little fat free rice puddings but they discontinued them. They were the perfect size for a sweet while watching TV or eating one at the beach to hold me over for dinner. I make my own now and eat a HUGE portion so that sort of defeats the purpose:) Now TJ Max and Home Goods can be addicting:)
