I found this beautiful and almost contemporary looking silver and glass pitcher at the Goodwill. And I only paid $2.99 for it! I have to admit that it was tarnished and it had some dried white stuff on the bottom of the pitcher but there were no chips in it and I just couldn’t leave it there!
When I got it home the first thing I did was wash it and I used my kid’s favorite science experiment…vinegar and baking soda to bubble up the white stuff stuck on the bottom. Then it took me about 5 minutes of elbow grease and some silver polish to get the tarnish off the handle and the top of the rim and spout. It shined up beautifully!
I come across silver bowls and candy dishes all the time at the Goodwill. And I have some silver pieces but truthfully they are still in same box the movers packed them into from our last move and they are somewhere up in the storage room. Someday I will bring them out and shine them up when I decide where I might want to put them. But, I have no intentions of growing a silver collection unless I come across pieces that I know we will use. And I do believe we will use this pitcher. Pitcher of iced tea or orange juice on the weekends? A pitcher of Cosmo’s or Pomegranate Martinis perhaps? Yes please!
(See that little lamp next to my pitcher? I picked that up a few weeks ago for $6.00 at a consignment store.) Have a Happy Wednesday!

GEEZZE! You are snagging up all the great finds lately! I think maybe I need to head to a goodwill this weekend!
I am SO loving that pitcher!! Our Goodwill is not that good! I don't know what the deal is!!
I'm gonna have to come to yours!
Lou Cinda :)
Oh...what a beauty you have here...$2.99 is a steal!!!
Blessings,

What a beauty underneath the tarnish and dirt! Very pretty!
That pitcher is adorable! I agree, it's something you will actually use. That seems to matter to me too.
You always find the best stuff. What's your secret? Is there a best day of the week to go to the thrift store?
The pitcher is gorgeous. Thanks for the tip about removing the white stuff too. I have a few things I need to clean. I'll have to try it.
What a gorgeous pitcher! You have a good eye.
Blessings!

I love the pitcher. I often use denture cleaner in flower vases to get the filmy yuck off. The vinegar solution would be cheaper. I'll try that. Thanks.
Your lamp is really nice and everything was such a good bargain.
It's really elegant! A nice formal twist on an otherwise casual item... You have such a good eye xo
What a neat little pitcher! I sometimes cannot see the potential in such cute items. Great find!
Wow, Lisa--this is one of your best deals yet. I can TOTALLY see it filled with your pomegranate martinis!:)
It was very interesting for me to read the post. Thanx for it. I like such themes and anything that is connected to them. I definitely want to read a bit more on that blog soon.
I need to hit up my Goodwill. I've been so busy trying to de-clutter to sell my house. I've been dropping things off there, but I haven't gone IN. I have found great things in the past! Your pitcher (and especially the lamp) inspires me! Good finds!

That pitcher is just gorgeous! I never find good stuff like that at my Goodwill. Maybe I'm not in there enough, or that store just doesn't get good donations. You definitely scored big with that purchase.
It really struck a chord when you wrote "I just couldn't leave it there" because that's how I started my pottery collection. I just couldn't bear to leave sitting on the shelves these vases that I found with someone's initials carved into the bottom. I love seeing all of your finds!
You are the queen of good finds. Love the lamp! I am a lamp loving girl.
That pitcher is beautiful. What a great find!
