R.I.P. Halloween Stone

RIP Stone 026

A few days ago I made an address stone from a scalloped edge garden stone.  Well the three little scallops across the top made me think I could do something with it for Halloween.  So this is what I came up with.

 RIP Stone 006

I simply spray painted the stone black and then use some outdoor craft paint and my letter stencils to make it.

RIP Stone 021

Yesterday it was 92 degrees.  And this morning it is beautiful and in the 60’s headed for a high in the low 70’s.

So much more like Fall.  I AM SO HAPPY!!

I’ll be pulling out a few more Halloween decorations today. How about you?

These stones might make cute sets of 3 candy corn or pumpkins.   For Christmas time I am thinking maybe “Ho, Ho, Ho”.  Any other ideas?

Yesterday I Painted Rocks

   Rocks 024

Yesterday I painted rocks.  I did a lot of other things too but the only thing I have to show for the day are the rocks.

My husband went to see the Alabama and Duke Football Game.  And The Tide Did Roll!  I watched some of it on TV.  Not pretty for the Duke fans.

Anyway, I had the whole day to myself after plans for several activities fell through and so after some lunch and some shopping I watched some football and I painted rocks.

I saw the idea to paint Halloween/Fall words on rocks on a blog somewhere.  Sorry to whomever I owe “idea credit”.  I can’t remember where I saw them.

There are so many Halloween words out there.  I ran out of rocks.

I would like to get a few more rocks so that I can include some of the words I missed like “Werewolf”, “acorn”, and “Frankenstein”.

Rocks 006   Rocks 017

At first I had plans to take the dog out for a walk in the woods to look for rocks.  But the strange thing is that around here rocks are kind of hard to find.

So,  I remembered that I had a bag of polished stones that I used in a candle arrangement once.  So I took them outside and spray painted them black.

I used some white craft paint and a very thin brush to paint every possible Halloween word I could think of on them.

And here is my plate of rocks.  I think they are kind of cute.

My son took one look at them and said “Why?”

More Halloween Stuff and My Witch Shoe Collection

Halloween Stuff 005

They said it was supposed to be another gray and drizzly day and it has been the exact opposite. Blue skies, warm temperatures, a nice breeze…a perfect Fall day.

I found some more of my Halloween decorations up on a shelf in the garage when I was looking for something else. Happy surprise. Glad I didn’t come across these about a week into November which has happened before. I love these pumpkins and I like to put them at the bottom of the driveway with one on each side. I also finally got around to taking some photos of the Witch’s Shoes I found a few weeks ago at Cracker Barrel. These were so cute and since they only had two I decided to get them both because you know if I went back to get the 2nd one later it would have been gone. Preventative Shopping.

First I tried it in the window which was okay.

Then I tried them in the Dining Room and hung them on the side board and I put one on each side. Perfect.

I think I have started a Witch’s Shoe Collection by accident. Remember my Witch’s Shoe Candle Holder?

So I guess I will keep my eye out for more Witch’s Shoes and see if I can grow this new collection. :)

Halloween and Guilty Pleasures

I am getting very excited about Halloween already! I stopped by Cracker Barrel this morning on my way to work. Cracker Barrel???? And I didn't stop for breakfast because I don't really like the food there. Guilty Pleasure Alert: I have to admit I do like to browse around in their "Country Store" this time of year. :) Do they have Cracker Barrels everywhere or are they just here in the South???

I usually make a yearly visit there because they always have the cutest and most unique things for Fall. One year I got a pair of Pilgrim's that are made out of wood and I put them out every year. I am sure to post a photo of them when I bring them out in November. Anyway, today I found the world's greatest Witches Hat and Gloves. Guess what I am going to be for Halloween this year? Now being a Witch might not seem all that original to you but I feel such a sense of relief knowing what I have to work with and love that I am not putting a costume together at the last minute. Besides, this lets me concentrate on making my husband's costume. One year he dressed up as a Roast Beef. I was a Deviled Egg that year. Another time he was the crazy looking guy on the Slim Jim container with the Slim Jim's coming out of his head. There is something about seeing him dressed up that makes everybody laugh. This year will be no exception. We have the perfect idea for him for this year's costume but I have a lot of work to do and I am grateful that I won't have the distraction of worrying about my own costume.

FGT....this Bow is for you!

So anyway, I've got a start on my Witch's costume. I can't wait for my friend FGT (First Grade Teacher) in Canada to see it. She likes to dress up on Halloween in "pretty" costumes. No gore and horror for her. I think she would approve of the bow on the back of the hat. Did I tell you it has a veil too? And check out the Gloves!! Black lace spider webs. So elegant!
