Spring Clean Up

Evan and Oakley 032

It was a lovely weekend for cleaning up the yard.  After the fun of watching the Royal Wedding all day Friday, on Saturday we decided to get some work done in the yard.

Finally got around to planting all those geranium pots this weekend.  I even gave the pots a quick coat of black spray paint with a gloss finish.  Love the gloss!  So dark and shiny and new.  I’ve got quite a collection of pillows going now on the front porch whicker set.  I found some at TJ Maxx and others at Lowe’s and Costco.  Kind of a mish mash but somehow it all works I think.    The  whicker is next on the list for the black spray paint treatment.  It was a little too windy for that but we’ll get to it one of these days.

Then it was time to turn our attentions on to the back deck.    That geranium isn’t going to last long in my recycled number pot but it sure looks good now.  Gives me some time to make another larger pot to transplant to later.

Then we laid down some landscaping paper and put down some new mulch in the flower bed off of the deck.  It always looks pretty in the Springtime but by the time summer hits the weeds invade and it looks like a jungle just in time for the Fourth of July.  NOT this year!  I hope that landscape paper works!

Oakley supervised much of the re-potting.

And here is another portrait of The World’s Cutest Dog.

And even Evan made a brief  appearance (and I do mean brief…that boy is never home) to rub Oakley’s belly and said the garden “Looks nice.”.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Your geraniums look great, Lisa! I love the gloss to the pots. I can't wait until next weekend to get some geraniums and other plants myself {my safe date for the last frost is Mother's Day weekend}. I like to clean up the furniture and play around outside that weekend.

I'd like to know if your landscape paper works for you. We never really have any luck with what we put down and sometimes I think the weeds actually come from the mulch {weed seeds maybe mixed in there}. You're off to a great start for the outdoor season!

I like your wagon... :-))

We have paper down under our mulched areas and the weeds always find a way to pop their heads through it.
