Pet Memorial Stone

New Camera Photos 008

I was out to dinner last night with some girlfriends and had a very nice evening at a restaurant called A Taste of Thai.  The food was very good and it was fun to do some catching up.  We laughed most of the night until the ride home when I learned that Jane’s sweet cat named Sam passed away a couple of weeks ago.  They were very attached to that cat.  He was a very handsome cat with fluffy white fur and a whole lot of personality.  He would take a walk each night around the yard with Jane’s husband and he actually used the toilet instead of a litter box!!

Anyway, they miss him terribly and Jane said she thought they needed some kind of marker to remember him by for their garden and asked if I would be able to make something simple.  I was more than happy to do so.

I took one of my stones that can be found at Lowe’s or Home Depot and spray painted it black.   I wanted to add a simple silhouette of a cat and I found one on Google that I copied to a Word document and sized it the size that would fit my stone and printed it out.    I then took my stencil burning tool and taped the picture to the back of the plastic stencil and I “burned” it out of the plastic stencil.

After that I was ready to stencil the stone.  I used my letter stencils to add the name and then when the letters were dry, I added the stencil of the cat silhouette.   It’s very simple but I think they are going to like it.    Sam was an OLD cat.  He was already in his 20’s which if you have ever had a cat, you know that is old!  He had a very good life but will be sadly missed.  I hope the garden marker helps them feel a bit better.

I know they will love the marker. What a wonderful way to remember Sam.

Oh, what a sweet friend you are...that is just so special!
I have not ever heard of a stencil burning kit...going to have to look into that.
Have a nice weekend.

My heart skipped a few beats when I saw this post. Our cat Sam had to be put to sleep a month ago, at the age of 16. (There's a recent post on my blog about him) We miss him so much.

You are an angel, Lisa.

I like these a lot, thanks for sharing. I want to get something like this for my sister who just had a cat pass away. I think she would really appreciate it.
