Eat, Pray, Love and Today’s Questions

Not much going on around here this weekend. The weather is STILL hot and humid and I am sooo over it! Hurry Fall!

I talked my husband into going to see Eat, Pray, Love yesterday. I LOVED the book and thought the movie was good but I was hoping to LOVE it more than I did. But the scenery was beautiful and who doesn’t like Javier Bardem?

Afterwards, of course we had to go out for Italian food and we tried this odd little restaurant in High Point. The food was good, white table cloths on hard plastic booths, and a one-man easy listening music man playing the soft rock hits of the 70’s and 80’s. My shoe stepped in something sticky on the floor under my booth bench seat. We couldn’t get any reception on our cell phones and the clientele was definitely an older crowd. Did I mention the food was good? Anyway I am happy to check it off my “list”. I have driven by it many times and always said we should try that place one day. So we did. And, we won’t be back. :)

School starts this week! :)

I stripped the wall paper in my powder room this week and almost have all the glue washed off the wall. Now, I have to choose a color to paint it. My whole house is painted with those Tuscan colors of green, gold, and burgundy. We need a change and not sure what direction to go. HELP!

I am going to make my last batch of PICKLES for the summer today.

I hope to make a Tomato Tart later today as well and will post the recipe when I do. It’s WONDERFUL!

It’s been a few weeks since 'I’ve done the questions over at MannLand 5. So here we go.

1. If you could host a Reality TV show, which one would it be?

That is a hard one to answer. I don’t really watch a lot of reality TV. I guess I would have to say “Survivor”. I could never be a contestant on that show because I like my soap, toothpaste, hot showers, normal food, and clean clothes too much. But, as the host, I could stay in a hotel while doing the show and retreat to my hotel room after inflicting misery on the contestants. :)

2. Do you put your seatbelt on before or after you start the car?

I put my seat belt on before I start the car.

3. Shave or hair removal cream?

Shave. Has the smell of those removal creams improved any? I remember trying Nair as a teenager….couldn’t get past the rotten eggs smell.

4. What's your favorite feature in a house?

Lots of windows for lots of light.

5. What is your favorite "Fall" scent?

Anything with cinnamon baking in the oven. And I like the first scent of burning leaves for about 1 minute and then I am over it. If I smell burning leaves too long I get a headache.

6. What TV show are you looking forward to seeing the most this Fall??

Not sure. I was looking forward to The Real Housewives of Washington DC which just started this month…so far I am disappointed. ( I like Bethany Getting Married but I am not sure if it’s coming back.)

7. Personal Shopper or Personal Chef?

That is a hard question. I really don’t like to shop so to have someone else do that for me would be wonderful. But, a Personal Chef would be so nice and I could learn all kinds of things watching them prepare our food. Hmm….I’ll go with Personal Chef!

8. What is the first word that comes to mind when you think of "Fall"?

Halloween. Fall is my favorite time of year. I love the cooler temperatures, the color of the leaves, and pumpkins on the porch. It can’t get here soon enough for me this year!

Lisa - I don't have time to answer all your questions but I would like to comment on how you make your pickles.

We had great success growing cukes this year but I cheated when I made my pickles. I just sliced them up and added them to a brine that I already had in the fridge. I had some "hot and sweet" pickles that I loved so I kept adding to them and it was great!

The perpetual pickle! And you can do this all year long. As long as it's good and easy right?

Nair! Who wears short shorts? (not me that's for sure!)
I think I can help you out with the color choices..not personally but I found a great blog that I am no way associated with.

I'm impressed you convinced your husband to see Eat, Pray, Love. I've been "encouraged" to have a GNO for the viewing :)

Let me know what you come up with for colors. We too are ready to update the colors in our family room but nothing is grabbing me. I love white but I don't want to go overboard.

Love you answers ~ my vote is for an early fall too!

Hey Lisa! I'm hoping to see that movie with all the girlfriends - girls night out. Enjoyed your review of the little Italian restaurant ;o).

Also, loved seeing and reading about all the sites you took in on your visit to DC. I live so close, a little under 2 hours, I feel guilty that I haven't been on a real site-seeing trip there in many, many years. Oh, my aunt used to live in Alexandria. When I was very small, I remember visiting several times her lovely home on a quiet, tree-lined street somewhere down there. It's a shame I can't remember more about it.

Thanks for sharing!

Hi Lisa....Oh I feel so bad that I reccomended the movie so highly and it wasn't as good as the book...I didn't read the book and I never get out of the house so any form of entertainment seems wonderful to me!..LOL...and a bad resturant to boot...I hope next weekend goes a little better...

Lisa I agree with all of your answers! Italian food is my all time favorite meal. Yum! :)

I think I would go for rich chocolate brown and crisp white for your bathroom. Pretty and fresh too!

Have a great day!

It is interesting to see what everyone thought of "Eat, Pray, Love" as a movie. I, too, read the book and never once thought Elizabeth came off as self-pitying or self-absorbed...but I've heard just horrible things about the movie. Same rings true for her next book, "Committed". No one likes it. But I LOVED "Eat, Pray, Love" and absolutely refuse to post it on Paperback Swap.com! Thanks for the review.

Oh, and a friend of mine on base made fried pickles a few weeks ago at a cookout. They were amazing. It's the only way I'll eat pickles now. And yes, I thought of you. ;)

I wasn't impressed with Housewives of DC. Watched the first episode and it was going to be to much Obama and pit the races against each other. Didn't like it. I love Bethany though. Isn't Jason the best?
