Christmas Candle Mason Jars

Mason Jars 030

There is something about a Mason Jar that always makes me stop and consider it’s purchase when I am out and about  shopping in some of my most favorite and thrifty of shopping spots.  I came upon a nice collection recently and purchased every one that they had.   My favorites were the Mason Jars with the star in the middle.  So Texan looking!

But the Atlas Mason Jars come in at a close second.  I made some luminaries out them.  They are very simple to do.  The “snow” in the bottom of the jars is Epsom Salts.  Very economical as far as fake snow goes!  And I added a short chunky white candle.

I painted the tops of my jar lids a bright and glossy Christmas red and added a jingle bell tied on with red and white butcher’s string.

Very festive don’t you think?!

I made a whole set to line my front porch with on Christmas Eve.  Kept a couple to give away as gifts and the rest I took over to Rustic Romance to sell.

Then after the holidays, I‘ll take a bath in the Epsom Salts, (just kidding) and I’ll save the jars and use them for when I make pickles in the summertime.  Always multi-tasking.  :)

I am linking up to Nifty Thrifty Tuesday over at Coastal Charm.  Lot’s of great ideas to see over there!

I am also linking up to the Christmas Craft Linky Party at Shanty 2 Chic.

They are darling. When you light them do you just take off the lid and leave the ring on for color?

Thanks Susan! I hadn't really thought about it but I like that idea because the red rings are seperate from the lids and that way the rings can stay put and keep looking Christmas-y. :)

You always think of the best things. I love these and will be copying them as soon as I can get to Wal Mart for some bright red spray paint. Can't wait to do this. Thanks for the idea.

Great find and cute project, Lisa! You could probably keep these to use for Fourth of July, too, what with the red lid and star on the jar. Just lose the bell.

Very cute & festive! I don't think I've ever seen one of the mason jars with the star. You could probably use them each season with a different color spray paint ;)
