Gelato

image

Greensboro, North Carolina has discovered GELATO!  Or should I say Gelato has discover Greensboro.  Either way, there is a new gelato cafe in town called GNAM, GNAM and opened in one of the shops next to The Fresh Market on Lawndale.   It’s a stylish and quaint little shop that also serves salads, sandwiches, espresso, pastries, breakfast, lunch, and dinner, shakes, and beer and wine.   It’s been open for a short while and we finally stopped in last night.  Incredibly good!  I had 4 mini scoops that included pistachio, lemon, tiramsu, and nutella!!  All 4 flavors were unbelievably good.  It’s healthier with less fat and tastier than regular ice cream.  Healthier!  This could be trouble with a capitol “T”.

And look at this masterpiece.  It’s called Spaghetti Gelato!   That is vanilla gelato with strawberry syrup and topped with shaved white chocolate!!  Eating one of these is going on my bucket list. :)

I love gelato! We recently went on vacation to California and the resort we stayed at had the world's best pistachio gelato. Too bad it is impossibel to get good gelato around home. xo

I love gelato. I wish they would sell it in little shops like they do ice cream. It is so much better that ice cream. I don't know if I knew you were in Greensboro. I am from there. Born there and then my dad got transferred several times, but my grandparents and other family members were all still there until the late eighties. Grandparents retired to Fla. and then passed away and my aunts and uncles and cousins all moved away, too. I am sure I still have some that still live there. My grandparents lived close to Lawndale.

In Rome and other parts of Italy, for my last two birthdays, I was on a gelato binge, consuming a cup every time we passed a stand. I had it in every single flavor and at every single famous place. It was lovely sitting across from the Leaning Tower of Pisa, savoring a tangy lemon gelato! Such joy!

At 65, I've done it! My poetry book - Life's Journey by Carmen Henesy - is out on Amazon!
( Poems about the things that have been important to me in my journey through life, some humorous, some sad, some that may have meaning to you as well )

Oh geez, Lisa. That was so cruel! ;) I'm not sure if gelato has discovered Atlanta, but it definitely has NOT discovered Macon...which is really cruel after our week in Rome 2 years ago. And yes, gelato IS healthier...hard to believe...but true! Congrats on having a truly awesome market. Everything you listed is exactly what should make up a market. And please post pics of your spaghetti gelato when you get it. Hard to believe such a thing exists! But then...those people do crazy things with milk in coffee.

Now that looks amazingly delicious! I am jealous, Lisa, that you live so close by! If I remember my very limited Italian, gnam gnam means yum yum! lol And it does look yummy! Happy weekend...hugs...Debbie

That's the second time in a week that I've heard mention of "gelato". It looks delicious. I hope it becomes a popular trend. I've never tried it, but I want to! The pictures are gorgeous!

The picture of the gelato is so pretty. It sounds good too. I have never tired it. I am not much on ice cream, frozen yogurt, etc. but I would try it.

We went to Vegas last summer and my husband fell in love w/ gelato. Every day he'd have some (that's what the buffets are good for!).
