Wii Fit Plus

Nintendo Wii Boxes 005

I am the new and proud owner of a Wii Fit System!  A few weekends ago I attended a Nintendo Wii promotional event in Raleigh, NC that I was invited to by Erin, a fellow blogger over at The Fierce Beagle and a Nintendo Wii Brand Ambassador.  How’s that for a title!  Many thanks to Erin for inviting me.  It was perfect for me.  I am somebody who knew next to nothing about the Wii System thinking it was really something for children and not something I would enjoy doing.  I was so wrong.

The event itself was fun.  It was held at the Marriott in downtown Raleigh in one of their meeting rooms.  There were probably 18 or more Wii systems set up  in the room and we had our pick as to what system we wanted to try out.  There were some set up with all the Wii Sports game, another area had the new Wii Sports Resort set up,  and I zeroed in on the Wii Fit Plus.  It has yoga, aerobics, games to improve your balance and coordination, obstacle courses, and about a hundred other games and activities to keep me busy for years!  There were several Nintendo Representatives , all as knowledgeable and helpful as they could be to help us navigate the system and the games.  After a VERY Healthy lunch (the event was co-sponsored by the American Heart Association) of salad, bread with olive oil,  grilled chicken and sautéed spinach, with fruit smoothies for dessert, we were all given a “Thank You For Attending” gift bag filled with Nintendo promo goodies and our own Wii Sports Resort package.  Awesome!  Only problem….I don’t have the console to  play the game. :(

So days and weeks went by.  Do I really want to purchase a game console? Deep down I really did.  I wanted the Wii Fit Plus that I had spent most of my time demo-ing.  (I know that’s not a real word but that’s how I talk.) :)  Anyway, long story short, I went shopping for a new Wii Console and the Wii Fit Plus Bundle that includes the board you have to stand on for some of the activities.

That board will also tell you what a rich fantasy life you have.  It did me.  Let’s just say I am not nearly as “fit” or as “young” as I thought I was!  Oh, and I discovered how uncoordinated I am too.  I am a bad hula-hooper, I don’t know how to keep my bicycle out of the river or read a map,  and apparently I don’t know my right foot from my left.   I stink as a penguin rocking icebergs while I attempt to catch fish.    But I did manage to do okay with the step aerobics and jogging.   The basics so far seem to be my forte.  This was my first day and I only scratched the surface.  There is sooo much more there to discover.  One day at a time….tomorrow is kick boxing.   Wish me luck!

So far I am having fun.  I can’t wait to see how sore my body is tomorrow.  :)  Anybody out there have a Wii?  I would love to know what your favorite workouts and games are.  Thanks!

Don't have the Resort game, but I love wii fit! I am really good at the table tilt :)

Also, if you have netflix, you can watch movies instantly through the wii... bonus!

I am cracking up at the thought of you doing this! I am NOT coordinated either and we would have fun doing it together. We would pee our pants:)

I'm like you... though the Wii was just for kids. I don't even think I've ever seen one in person. I hope you're able to move tomorrow.

We have the Wii, I got a Wii fit but sold it cos I never used it, and then hubby bought Wii Active, it's still in the box, I think he used it twice! Kristen has Wii Sport and Resort, she plays them sometimes but I honestly never use the wii :-/
Hope you continue to like it.

You know, I've been wanting something like this at home for a while. We have an xbox 360, and I didn't want to spend all that money to get an entirely new gaming system, so I've been waiting. Patiently. And now FINALLY, xbox is coming out with something similar. Their Kinect is coming out this Christmas, which is supposed to be a lot like the Wii. Yay!
